Large, early, Loetz ‘Onyx’ vase with white and gilt, cold painted enamelling in Islamic design. This decor, which replicated the look of a semi-precious stone, was technically difficult to produce and perhaps, more than any, enhanced the international reputation of Loetz in the late 19th century.
